The Talk

Mission: Hard Earned Peace
Location: Lieutenant SethTravis Office.

Despite having meditated for three hours after her run in with Hela there was nothing good about this but she knew she was in the best place psychologically to tell Seth. How he would react she knew and, however she looked at it the outcome would not be good. She sheltered her abdomen protectively as she walked as slowly as she could trying somehow not to get there. As she entered the turbolift she ordered it to halt and shaking she slid down onto the floor. she knew Seth would want to confront Hela and, as much as she wanted the babies she would give them both up for Seth. She had never imagined that she would find another love like Mark and, now she had Shasta they were a family. Could she, would she give these new lives up? she stood resolutely smoothing her uniform down as she did. It was at that moment she knew they would fight Hela every single second and with all their cunning and might.

The lift glided to a halt a few feet from Seth's office. She pressed the chime in case he had someone with him and took a deep centring breath.

Seth was in his office reading the latest diplomatic dispatches when the door chime rang. Getting up he went to the door and was surprised to see Shon standing there Shon? Why did you ring the chime? This is your cabin as well. You do live here." He stated a grin on his face until he saw the look on hers. "Shon? What is it? What is wrong?" He asked in rapid fire fashion, Pulling her in so he can find out what was bothering Shon.

She smiled, moved towards him and gently kissed him caressing his face. “I rang the chime in case you had anyone with you. I wanted to make sure you were alone as we have something to discuss.” She put her hands behind her back massaging her muscles. “Please lock the door and sit down?” Shon sat on the couch and patted the seat next to her.

"No one here but me." Seth replied but was instantly on edge from Shon's guarded wording. "What is wrong Shon? Are you ill? Is it the babies? Shasta?" He asked as he placed the security lock on the door and moved to the couch to sit next to Shon.

She sat for a moment not wanting to tell him, to give him a still yet perfect moment of peace, of family. She took his hand and breathed deeply. Seth I am fine Shasta is fine as our our,” she hesitated “the babies. I saw Hela today, I was meditating and I realised she was in the room watching me so, I asked her to reveal herself and demanded what she wanted from us.” Shon couldn’t help but let a tear fall. She brushed it away.

Seth squeezed Shon's hand at hearing this shocking news. "Hela is here? And she confronted you? I can guess what she wants in payment for allowing Shasta to come back to you, us. However, tell me exactly so I know what we're dealing with the witch."

Yes, she wants one or both of our babies, and she is capable of that. What are we going to do Seth? If she can bring Shasta back to us then in all certainty she can take them.” She looked at his face seeing the creases begin that had not been there a minute ago. Suddenly she felt very tired and vulnerable.

"We're going to fight her Shon." Seth resolutely, firmly. "I'm not sure how but we are. What surprises me, is that she appeared and told you rather than just taking what she sees as her payment. Maybe she will listen to reason if we aren't confrontational with her. I don't mean give in but not screaming at her."

Shon gave a small laugh. “From the way she acted with me she enjoyed telling me. She is cruel Seth. I should never have taken her bargain but I was selfish, I wanted Shasta back, I never thought we would see her again.” She laughed again, “for someone who is as scientific as a medical officer and is half Vulcan, I have been very stupid. So, what do we do next? We will have to tell the Captain.

Seth shook his head, "You weren't being selfish Shon. You were being a mother who wanted her daughter back. Not a thing wrong with that." He squeezed her hand. "This is a business deal to Hela and yes she is cruel and I'm sure she delighted in announcing she had returned. Time to be scientific and methodical Shon. Perhaps we can use Hela's traits against her and yes we need to tell the captain."

Shon disengaged her hand stood and walked to the replicator “delifa leaf tea large.” She turned, “do you want anything my love?”

Seth was silent for moment has he thought of Hela once again imposing herself in their lives and the distraction she would cause. After a few seconds, he looked at Shon and shook his head. "No thank you darling, I'm good."

Shon nodded and walked back to the couch and sat down next to him. His leg felt warm and she began to feel relaxed. She took a sip of the tea and then put it down. She turned towards him and took his hands in hers. “Seth the babies are old enough to live outside my womb. We have the means to do so in sickbay, it is complicated but it can be done. We could take a shuttle and get away, perhaps to Earth, somewhere she cannot follow. It’s not logical to let her take our family, we have do DO something.”

Seth smiled indulgently at her and wrapped an arm around her bringing Shon close. "Shon, listen to yourself. We could do what you say but what of complications Not to mention where would we go where Hela arise with the babies? Then what? Not to mention, where would we go where Hela couldn't find us? Oh, we might evade her for months or years but we would always be looking over our shoulders, living in fear and that isn't living." He shook his head, "We're not living like that. "We'll face her here together."

She sat up, “I have an idea, why don’t we speak to Shran regarding attempting to find her family to elicit help. They all hate her and, being gods they might help?” She sat back down in his arms. “But how, where would we find them?” She gave a little jump, “Seth, the babies moved.” She took his hand and placed it on her bump, “feel, it’s really strong.”

"It is worth a try Shon. They might help us or they may look down their noses at us and turn a deaf ear to our plight. One thing is for sure we won't know unless we try." Why not just do a general call out to them? Being gods they would hear it." Seth smiled broadly as he felt the babies move. Strong little tykes." He said with a bright smile.

Shon smiled for the first time. "lets speak to the Captain now, get his turn on this and let him know what Hela plans?"

Seth leaned over and kissed Shon tenderly then took her hand in his and gave it a gentle squeeze. "An excellent idea my love. Let us go and see the Captain. Between the three of us we should be able to figure something out to stop Hela."
