Mission:
Tal Shiar
Location: Tal Shiar Base
OOC - mild nudity - not graphic, mild torture - not graphic.
The guard returned a short while later along with three lab techs each carrying a bowl of fruit of some sort and a bottle of what appeared to be water. Mr. Labcoat looked at Sam, Lisa and Jon. "I regret that you cannot feed or drink for yourselves. But your restraints must remain on. There is no discussing that." He said firmly and continued, "These techs will feed you and give you drink."
Sam looked hopefully at the bowl of fruit, wondering if she would continue to be punished for her smart mouth from earlier. She glanced from the food up to the computer monitor Mr Labcoat was working with to ensure she didn't miss anything. It looked as though he were trying to create an antivirus that would bind to the virus and render it inert - however his efforts so far was not successful.
The techs (all women) moved in front of Lisa, Jon and Sam. The one in front of Sam undid her gag and let it fall around her neck. "What do you want first food or drink?" She inquired.
" Water, then food" Sam replied a little too eagerly. Thankful she could lick her dry lips without the gag in her mouth. The water was poured carefully into her mouth and she swallowed it gratefully. Something that resembled an apple was cut into manageable pieces and also put carefully in her mouth. Causing their guinea pigs to choke wasn't going to cure the virus.
" Thank you" Sam replied as she finished, taking a few more sips of water to wash the fruit down.
"It is my duty. No need to thank me." The woman answered firmly and held up another piece of fruit to put in Sam's mouth, feeding her like a baby.
Jon and Lisa were also being fed the same way. It was embarrassing to be sure but it was just another in a long list of embarrassments for the away team.
Once the feed had been sufficiently fed and watered they were led one at a time to a small bathroom and permitted to use the facilities, then escorted back to their positions still standing against the wall. No chairs, nothing to rest on, just the wall. Thankfully Sam's gag hadn't been replaced but she was wise enough to keep her trap shut - for now.
They stood there, they had no other option. Their legs hurt from standing, their arms and wrists hurt from being pinned behind their backs and there would be no relief. All they could do was endure. Occasionally Mr. Labcoat would glance at them whether to see if they were still secure or he just liked looking at them wasn't clear. Also he would perform some tests on them but that seemed like something he was doing to look busy.
Sam's joints ached from standing so long - either that or the virus was starting to affect her. She couldn't tell either way. Mr Labcoat bustled around, muttering to himself and fussing with the microscopes and trying different techniques to gain his desired results. He seemed frustrated at his lack of progress.
" Have you considered activating dormant T cells to provide a natural immunity?" Sam offered, hoping that if she proved useful as something other than a lab rat it may prove beneficial to the team. Not to mention their own chances of surviving this thing.
He stopped his computations and looked at her. Horror on his face. "Why are you not gagged!? The Overseer will have my head for this breach! You must be gagged until it is decreed otherwise." He moved to her. "Open your mouth." He demanded.
" What did you say?" Mr Labcoat's eyes rose from his work at Sam's voice, his eyebrows raising a notch as he comprehended her words. He watched the guard approach her with the gag.
" Wait... let her speak" He commanded with an authority he had not expressed before. The guard seemed to pause for an instant.
The guard did pause right in front of Sam. "She MUST be gagged. You know the penalty for disobedience." The guard said firmly, defiantly. " Do you want us both to lose our heads?" He questioned Mr. Labcoat.
" Do you want us all to die?" Mr Labcoat countered, stepping over to the gag and reaching out to take it.
" Are you a biochemist?" He peered into Sam's eyes as though to read her mind through them.
" No... I'm a Doctor" Sam replied cautiously, eyeing over the vile device they wanted to shove back into her mouth. " We've dealt with a virus similar to this in the past- I think."
The guard refused to hand over the gag. "If I am to die, I want to do it with my head attached."
Mr. Labcoat listened to Sam and then scoffed, "A Doctor?" He said dismissively. "I need a biochemist." He waved to the guard. "Gag her."
" T Cells, just saying...it's your funeral" Sam started to reply before the gag was shoved back into her mouth, muffling her voice again. She glared at the guard before returning to propping herself up against the wall.
The guard smiled menacingly at Sam and just for spite he pulled the straps of the gag extra tight before buckling i in place. There was no way Sam could rid her mouth of the gag. It was in place to stay. He patted her head as he walked away. Her nude and bound form propped against the wall.
Mr Labcoat seemed to be stewing as he pottered and tinkered over at the workbench. The doors to the lab opened and a sick Romulan was carried in, his complexion much greener than normal and frothing from the mouth.
" Cure him!" Straith ordered, demanding the sick one be placed in the only available chair in the room.
" I.. I..." Mr. Labcoat stammered, appearing suddenly very fearful.
"Leave him and I will do my best." Mr. Labcoat replied, trying to sound confident.
"See that you do." Straith threatened and left the lab.
"If you want a chance of beating this virus your best bet is to ungag Sam." Jon said.
"I can't. It would mean my funeral." Mr. Labcoat replied.
"You could also be a hero to the Empire ." Jon pointed out.
Mr. Labcoat sighed and moved to where Sam stood propped against the wall. "Will you let me put your gag back when we're done talking?" He needed some sort of guarantee.
Sam looked incredulous at this offer. " You want help to save your ass, but I can only talk when you want me to? How is that fair?" She challenged before realising she may have overstepped her bounds again.
" Lose the gag and I'll help you" She countered.
"Who said anything about being fair?" He countered but he knew he needed her help. Besides if this worked he could always gag her again later. "You will remain nude and bound." He stated. He knew it was silly to say it but he needed to feel like he was in control.
" Fine" Sam grumbled and glanced toward Jon for his approval. This could provide her with multiple opportunities not only to get a head start in developing a cure and it could also provide an opportunity for escape.
It's okay Sam. See if you can help them and us." Jon told her.
Mr. Labcoat smiled to himself; he knew the human female called Sam wasn't pleased with remaining nude and bound but she wasn't going to get any better offer.
Sam peered through the microscope and looked at Mr Labcoat's current workings. He seemed to be trying to synthesise an antibody that would bind to and neuralise the virus - it was a rudimentary approach and one that could prove problematic if the virus mutated even slightly.
" Have you considered using the body's own natural immunity to certain viruses rather than synthesizing something from scratch?" She prompted before stepping over to Mr. Frothy Mouth and regarding his condition as well as she could without access to a scanning device or her hands.
