Mission: Tal Shiar
Location: Tal Shiar Base

Sam struggled against the bonds, at least with her hands in front they stood a chance of busting an escape, now that chance was about to be ripped away from them.

"You.. you....ungrateful scum! I just saved your ass from your own stupid virus AND getting your neck slit by your superiors" Sam's voice was indignant and downright angry.

He stopped his search and looked at her. "Correction, I am extremely grateful for your help and saving my ass. You have my everlasting gratitude." He said in a used car salesman's voice even as he looked at Sam standing there nude, her hands secured behind her back. He went back to his search and a moment later his eyes lit up. "Ah! Here it is." As he turned to let Sam see what he had in his hand.... the gag.

Sam blanched at the device in his hands, he wouldn't!

"You ungrateful piece of crap!"Sam spat, she wanted to fight him off, she desperately wanted to fight for her basic human rights. "She had no hands, her feet could only move 20 cms in any given direction, she had no physical weapon - except one.

As he approached her with the gag she ducked and drove her head into his midsection - sending them both sprawling to the floor. At the very least it would have winded him - she hoped.

She was partially right, he was stunned but he held onto the gag and he recovered quickly. A hand flashed out and got hold of her upper arm. Holding onto it tightly he crawled over to her. He looked down at her. "Don't be difficult. You cannot win. Open up."

"Over my dead body"Sam retorted, reefing her arm out of his grip. In a move that would have made her old gymnastics teacher proud she ducked low again, jumping just enough to force her bound wrists underneath her feet and get her hands in front of her again. She launched a double handed downward strike towards his collarbone in a desperate attempt to regain her freedom.

They fell to the floor one body clothed one nude. Locked in a desperate struggle. One to regain her freedom, one to keep her captive. He was stronger and tougher than he appeared. A leg flashed out knocking Sam to the floor. Before she could get to her feet. He was atop her, saddling her. The gag in one hand the disruptor in the other and pointed at. "Good try. But useless. Now hold still."

Jon saw the ensuing struggle between Sam and Mr. Labcoat. He had to help Sam! He forced his hands down and over his butt. Now they were in front and he could join the fray.

Hands still in front of her Sam wasn't giving up without a fight, she wriggled and stuck out, attempting to knock the disrupter out of his hands. His weight kept her lower body pinned but he would learn never to underestimate a Starfleet officer determined to have her freedom.

Jon moved to help Sam but like her his feet would only move 20cm or so so progress was slow. He could see Sam doing her best to fight off Mr. Labcoat but he had her pinned to the floor.

Mr. Labcoat, Struck her hard, hoping to stun her into submission. He kept a firm grip on the disruptor and out of the corner of his eye he saw Jon moving toward him. He fired the disruptor in front of Jon. Stay there! Or the next one will kill you!" He threatened.

The advantage momentarily was hers - he was focused on Jon just for a split second. Her head pounding and ears ringing from him previous blow she knew it was now or never.

Driving her heels down and her hips upward she twisted, unseating him and sending both him and his pesky disruptor to the floor. She rolled to the side herself and threw her weight towards him, hoping to pin him and give Jon a chance to help.

He fell to the side as Sam was able to throw him off but in addition to being strong and tough he was quick. His fingers sought the disruptor even as Jon joined the fray and threw his shackled hands round Mr. Overcoat's throat.

That just enraged the Romulan and with a burst of energy he twisted and rolled and threw Jon to one side, his attention was again focused on Sam. His fingers sought and found the disruptor and he pointed it at Sam. "Enough!" He roared.

She froze- in body but not in mind. Eyes searching for a weakness, an advantage she could exploit. With Jon able to assist Mr Labcoat had two targets to focus on - not ideal. Whilst Romulan, larger and stronger than both Jon and Sam, he was still a scientist and lacked the martial arts and combat experience that most Starfleet officers had drilled into them. He was an adept fighter, but his skills lie not in combat but in the lab.

"First, hands back behind your back." He ordered Sam while he watched Jon out of the corner of his eye. "Make a move and I'll kill you and then her." He looked back to Sam. "I'm waiting and I don't have unlimited patience."

Just then the door burst open and four guards poured into the room. " You two grab that slave and hold him. You two help me with this female. We have unfinished business."

"What the!?"Sam started, arms screaming as she was hoisted roughly to her feet. Her eyes sought out Jon and Lisa, praying that they would live through this even if she were to die herself.

"I saved your asses and this is how you treat us?" She retorted, still struggling to free herself.

Mr. Labcoat chuckled at her anger. With Sam's hands once again behind her, he brought out the silver pen and tapped it and Sam's binds became instantly tighter. Now there was no way she could bring them in front of her.

"Now let's get you gagged. I prefer you silent." He chuckled.

Jon shook in helpless rage as one guard held him and one covered Lisa.

The bonds cut into her flesh as Sam moved, red blood starting to bead and slide down her skin. She was cold and angry, running on pure adrenaline and fear. Her nose started to bleed, whether it was from the rough handling or from the virus she couldn't tell.

She sucked back and spat in the guard's eye, the reddish tinged saliva would have temporarily blinded him for an instant. But there was nowhere to go.

"Enough of that!" Mr. Labcoat told her as he stood in front of her. "Open your mouth or I'll have the guards do it for you and they aren't gentle."

"Oh and you're the epitome of the kind and caring individual" Sam retorted, refusing to open her mouth at his request.

The guard stepped forward backhanding Sam across the face and sending her sprawling on the floor. A split lip and her nose began bleeding in earnest. The gag was shoved roughly into her mouth as she lay dazed, unable to do anything other than try to stop the room spinning in lazy circles.

"Leave the slaves. They are no longer needed. I have the vaccine." Mr. Labcoat told the guards. He looked down at Sam. "I shall always remember you this way. Nude, bound and gagged. I thank you for your assistance. I couldn't have done it without you." He laughed heartily.

Sam could do little other than glare - she felt terrible. Her head throbbed and her bleeding nose was making breathing difficult with the gag. Her eyes sought out Jon and Lisa - taking comfort in the fact they were in one piece. Thankful for their relative safety she promptly passed out.

Jon moved as fast as he was able to Sam's side and knelt awkwardly next to her. She was breathing more or less regularly. The gag didn't help her. He turned his back to her and tried to use his hands to rouse her. He didn't have any luck so he turned back to her. "Sam. Sam, Samantha" He said softly but firmly "Come on now wake up."

The voice sounded as though it were coming from far away, filtered and softened by distance. Her body ached in places she hadn't thought possible, even her hair hurt. Her head pounded in time with her heartbeat - which at this point was rapid with residual adrenaline. The voice sounded insistent, commanding her to wake up and open her eyes. Ever the good little Starfleet officer she did as she was told. Wincing as the bright light assaulted her eyes and made the headache worse.

" ugh" was the only thing that made it through the gag. Her eyes found Jon's and she felt just a little bit better. Lisa was nearby - they were still alive.

Jon gave her a relieved smile. "Easy Sam. take it slow and easy." He told her, "No sudden movements." He looked over her binds and gag. "I know you aren't going to like this but your cuffs look like they're even tighter than before and your gag. You can tell how tight it is. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news Sam."

Sam squeezed her eyes shut, willing the tears not to fall. They'd been so close, she'd tried so hard to get them out of here, only to end up in a worse situation than before. She shivered, a fever starting to rise as the virus took advantage of her weakened state. The anti virus was only engineered for Romulans as she had spliced it into their unique genetic structure. To find a humanoid cure would me repeating the second half of the process all over again. Brough blurry vision she noted the away team were alone, the Romulans had left them alone for now. Was it a blessing, or a curse to see how long it would take the virus to overcome them? Either way it wouldn't matter, Sam for the first time began to lose hope of getting off this godforsaken rock.

Jon saw Sam squeeze her eyes shut in an effort not to cry. "Don't cry Sam. You can't cry. You could suffocate with that gag in your mouth. Cry when we get back to the ship." He finished trying to retain an air of optimism but things were bad. They were all still securely bound and nude. Sam had the additional indignity of being tightly gagged. Yet he had to keep their hopes up! "We'll get out of this." he told her and Lisa. His eyes sweeping the lab for something they could use to escape but alas there was nothing. "Stay strong Sam, we all have to stay strong. We can't give in to despair. If we do then we are lost." As he finished he offered Sam a grim smile. He briefly wondered if she was going to try and talk with the gag wedged in her mouth.

Sam struggled to sit up, drawing her knees into her chest in a vain effort to protect herself from any further attacks should more Romulans walk in. She had no concept of time, it could have been 10 hours or 24 they'd been captured for. There was nothing to measure it against. She was again hungry and thirsty but couldn't say anything to express what needs she had. Not that they could do anything about it anyway. She hung her head in despair, trying to conceal the weakness of her tears. Convinced that the Romulans were either going to kill them straight up, or let the virus do the job for them, Howard was sure they were going to die.

Jon saw Sam hang her head in despair. He couldn't let her or Lisa give in to it. He nudged her with his knee, "Hey, hey, no getting down. We'll figure something out. Don't you cry Sam. You can't cry." He repeated even as he suppressed a shiver. He had to remain strong for Sam and Lisa. He pressed his head to hers. "Samantha Howard, you're better than this, stronger than this. I know this looks bad, hell it is bad but remain strong. I know you can do it."

Sam looked at him, despair in her eyes but somewhere deep inside his words hit a little bit of granite hardass and lit the tiniest of flickers. She was stronger than this, she was better than letting the gravity of a situation get the better of her, despite how bad things seemed now. Taking a deep breath she nodded her head, and let it rest on the wall behind them, taking a few moments of quiet to recover as much as she could.

Time passed - an indeterminate period of which no-one within the room could accurately recall.

The door opened, and Sam looked up, ready to face her date whatever that may be

Jon gave her a smile as Sam nodded her head, "That a girl Sam." He said encouragingly. "We'll find a way out of this." He said with confidence he didn't feel as another shiver made it's way through his body. But he couldn't let Sam and Lisa see that. Things did look bleak after all they were nude and bound hand and foot and in Sam's case gagged. He closed his eyes and let out a small sigh and like Sam let his head fall back and rest against the wall and tried to think.

However the only thoughts he had were of how this was all his fault! If he had taken more time, he would have seen the neuro net and thereby avoided capture of the away team. He looked to Lisa and then Sam and he felt terribly responsible for their situations and all they had endured.

Then after an indeterminate amount of time the door opened and he was aware of another presence in the room.

Straith regarded the three prisoners with an air of disdain. He threw 3 garments towards the team, the brown almost rags landing in a heap in front of them. Sam looked up with an exhausted eye, almost not knowing what to make of it. Was he helping them by not letting the freeze to death? Or was he still wanting the virus to kill them slowly?

He decided to make them sweat literally. He knew they had to be wondering about the rags he threw down. His gaze went from Jon to Lisa to finally landing on Sam. He chuckled at the sight of her sitting before him bound and gagged and without clothes. "Gagged again I see. You are wondering about the rags? Ask me about them. I will tell you."
