Mission:
Wounds From the Mirror
Location: Sickbay
Inara read a PADD on a biobed. "Let's see here. Oh, my goddesses. They're not actually doing it. They're going to ignore all my research and claim time is linear again. Those Vulcan Science Academy twits." She waited for the last medic to leave the room, then she moved towards the replicator. Black Coffee was only three feet away.
Shon, occupying the next biobed woke to hear Inara's voice. She was in pain and, as such snapped a little too loudly, "not supposed to have coffee Inara, anyway, how are you feeling?"
Dr Michael Tarsis, a recent Academy graduate who had been studying under Sam and Shon for the past few months on rotation appeared from the CMO's office, PaDD in hand and a medical tricorder on his hip.
"I apologize for keeping you waiting, it's been...ahh...busy" he apologized as he started taking preliminary readings to ascertain who needed treatment first.
"Ugh... Quiet. I've had everything under the sun injected into me but coffee and science." Inara sat on the biobed again. "And now the fruits of years of combing, brushing, conditioning, and styling is gone."
Tarsis raised his eyebrow and cast his tricorder over Inara. "Could you tell me what happened Lieutenant" he asked gently, making some notes as he did so.
"Wanna know what's wrong? I'll tell you what's wrong. They had Shon shave my beautiful hair off. After all the care I've put into it for years upon years. Those twisted alternate universe bastards all have a death mark courtesy of Inara Senn. And one day their sentence will be delivered." Inara mentioned. "I do not blame Shon for doing it. I blame those barbaric assholes."
Viviana looked like she hadn't slept in three days, which was in fact the truth. Perim was currently off duty, having been on nonstop surgical duty for the last two days. As it stood, Viviana was the senior medical officer on duty at the moment, a far cry from what she had done just a few months ago before graduating the Academy, remembering her last training cruise on the Washington. "Stand clear" she stated softly but firmly. A moment passed, and Wyatt materialized holding up a beaten and broken Sam. "Tarsis, get her to a biobed" she ordered. She took out her tricorder and began scanning, "Not to worry, I've got things under control" she said, giving a reassuring smile to Sam. She looked over the readouts and had her best poker face on, not showing any worry about what she was about to deal with to heal her superior."
Sam's legs gave out just as Tarsis picked her up and placed her gently on the biobed, his eyes also watching the readouts on Shon and Inara to make sure they both remained stable. The medical team had been decimated by this attack and now their boss was in a bad way.
"BP and heart rate dangerously high" Tarsis started, reading the stats out for Viviana"
"50 cc's lectrazine" Viviana ordered. The medicine was effective, bringing her BP and heart rate back to a normal level. "That's better" Viviana noted. "20 cc's synaptizine" she ordered. Being handed the hypospray and moved to inject Sam once again, "This will help with the mental damage. You'll need to spend some time with Callie, but from a medical point of view, it will fix you right up."
Sam nodded and relaxed as the neural sedative coursed through her system, lulling her to sleep whilst repairing the physical damage the trauma had done to her synapses.
Tarsis made his way back to Inara, "Shall we continue what we started before the medical emergency arose?"
While Tarsis spoke with Inara, Viviana continued her work on Sam. This might be the last straw for her, having virtually all of the senior medical officers on the mend, and she had to be the one treating them. She had dealt with many different scenarios, but nothing in her training prepared her for this. It was like field work in a battlefield, and she had already seen more than enough carnage. These Mirror folks must have come from a universe of great peril and pain to inflict such savagery on everyone they encountered. She leaned in and whispered, "Don't worry boss, I'll have you patched up and ready for a few days on the beach in no time."
Sam opened her eyes drowsily for a moment, fear flashing within them before her memory kicked in. She was recovering on the mirror ship any more, this was her Sickbay, her staff, and her body they were mending. "You're doing great Viviana, I trust you" she whispered, trying to raise her hand but realizing they hadn't got to mending her shoulder yet. She must have been in worse shape than she thought. "How bad is it?"
Viviana offered a smile as she continued working, "You aren't that bad, just a variety of injuries I have to deal with. Probably doesn't help that I have been treating patients for 72 hours straight with only Dr. Perrim and the EMH as assistants. But believe me, you are in far better condition than many of the others I have had to treat recently. I am sure the counselor will have plenty of work to do with you, as she will with others. Pity she no longer has counselor Jortho..."she replied, trailing off as the memory of the lost patient filled her mind.
Tarsis walked over and picked up an instrument and then approached Inara, "If you won't answer my questions, then I will just get back to my requested treatment for you. I believe you have been complaining about your hair, lack thereof. A simple treatment will rapidly alter your current state, though getting your hair back to its previous length will take a bit of time. But hey, some guys like that pixie style."
Sam looked up at Viviana, seeing the fatigue that left dark rings under the young woman's eyes. "Go get some sleep, I'll be fine until you get back and Dr Tarsis is looking after the others. I'm comfortable enough and whatever you gave me earlier is keeping the pain at bay" she implored, knowing how tough it was to work such long hours with little support.
"Perrim is coming to relieve me in about an hour. Until then, I am focusing my attention on fixing you up. Can't leave you to the EMH, can we?" she said with a sass and a smile. "I also have a lot of other patients to check on before I get some rest. Don't worry boss, I'll be fine. Top of my class at StarFleet Medical, remember?"
Viviana continued working on Sam, repairing the damage done to her, especially regarding her arm, the shoulder mostly. It was tricky work, but relatively simple thanks to the top-notch equipment at hand. Viviana worked as diligently as if she were starting a normal duty shift, and as the hour came to an end, she had completed her work on Sam and put her to sleep in a biobed, and checked on all her patients, sitting down just as Perrim came in to take over. She smiled, handed him a PaDD with the updates on everything and everyone, and then slowly but joyfully exited sickbay, heading to her quarters for a long-deserved rest.
