Chaos and Disorder

Mission: Unto Darkness, Light
Sam had her hands full with Celes still unconscious and unstable, Sachzny being affected by the Captain and some unknown entity, and Nurse Shona who was still only semi-conscious after her run-in with the escaping Captain.
The doors of sickbay opened once more causing Sam up to look in trepidation. Vulcans, Betazoids and even the odd Bajoran and human seemed to be converging on sickbay, all clutching their heads and moaning about poppies and red coats.
Dr Howard looked at Sachzny and Jon with a nervous expression.
" From what I can tell your symptoms arn't as severe as the Captain's or Deanna's. If you feel up to it - return to duty but make sure you come back here if you feel worse in any way. We need to get the Captain back and I think you two are the only one's who can accomplish that - just don't melt the warp core or anything" She finished with a tired but wry grin, tossing the fried cortical monitor back at the two.
"It would seem this thing is growing Doctor, I will attempt to recover the Sinkahue with Jon's assistance". She looked towards Jon and smiled.
"You have it Sachzny, you know that. It goes without me having to say it." Jon replied.
" I'll keep you updated on what's going on here, but from first glance it seems that anyone with telepathic, empathic or latent psychic abilities is being affected by whatever is going on. It's gonna get pretty busy down here" Sam finished sagely, already grabbing a wavering Vulcan and guiding her towards a vacant bed whilst dodging a swinging left uppercut from someone else. " Security might be handy!"
Sachzny moved and with Vulcan swiftness used her mind to knock out the swinging crewman, "This did not happen Commander, as the new laws of the Federation forbid it". She smiled as she spoke, she then used a Vulcan neck pinch on the Vulcan Sam was guiding. "I learned to do that in the holodeck, I have not injured him?"
Jon tapped his combadge, "Grayson to Security, send a security detail to Sickbay, no members of a telepathic or empathic species." Jon looked at Sachzny, "I didn't see a thing. Lets get to the bridge."
Meanwhile on the bridge two junior bridge officers felt the nervous tension that seemed to be permeating the bulkheads. The Captain seemed to have gone crazy, the XO had been summoned to sickbay to be briefed on some kind of medical crisis, and now all major ships functions had been disabled. The fact the Captain had just kidnapped the counselor and hijacked his yacht was just a side drama.
" Tactical's gone... sensors gone...warp drive gone...transporters...tractor beam...shields...great - sitting ducks" Mike grumbled from his auxiliary junior science station, causing his co-worker Carolyn to shoot him a smirk from her junior engineering station "Well at least today's not boring"
"I believe you all have better things to do than gripe about everything being down, like actually working to get something back online" came the comment from the command chair. "Commander Grayson and Commander Sachzny will be back here shortly and I plan on having something productive to report, understood?" said Ayana standing up. "We can't be locked out of everything. Emergency systems and secondaries should still be available to us. Start with get getting communication and sensors up. I'll work on tactical priorities."
Ayana moved to the tactical controls, watching the ensigns begin to work feverously. As she reached the tactical station she stood motionless for a few moments, her head bowed ever so slight and she whispered aloud to herself, "I wish I had some clue as to what is happening."
As by chance or luck the lift doors opened and Jon and Sachzny stepped onto the bridge. "Alright people, we have a Captain's yacht with a Captain and a counselor to recover. Lets get to it." Jon said keeping his emotions in check about Essie being taken. Though he knew Sachzny would be able to pick up his feelings.
Meanwhile in sickbay, Samantha was about to get another surprise, and not one she wanted. As the doctor and her staff worked on the influx of patients, one of her patients was waking up. Celes opened her eyes and looked around without getting up. Seeing the chaos in sickbay she slid off the biobed and stood up, taking a more detailed look around the room. She calmly began to make her way towards the exit, moving past everyone as if parting the sea. Suddenly, as the door to sickbay opened she looked back, as if she had heard a familiar voice, and her eyes locked with Samantha's. It wasn't exactly Celes' eyes though, as they were now a deep crimson red. Celes turned to see security standing there, phasers drawn. She rose her left hand and then flicked her wrist ever so slightly and the security officers were flung against the wall, collapsing into a heap. She slowly began walking one more, moving towards the turbolift.
Sam looked up as the sound of body hitting bulkhead caught her attention. Celes was on the move.
" Hey! Stop!" Sam shouted as she stepped forward, catching Deanna's eyes and stopped dead in her tracks. It was as though she were possessed - the eyes are a window to the soul - and that soul was definitely not the one that Sam knew. For an instant fear flickered in her heart, but she took a deep breath and went to confront the rogue officer.
Celes proceeded down the corridor towards the turbolifts until additional security appeared, ordering her to stop, phasers drawn. Her response was to flick her wrist once more, sending the phasers flying from their hands and the security officers flying up to the ceiling of the deck, pinned. As Samantha approached the sickbay entrance where the security team lat sprawled out on the floor she saw phaser fire zip past. Moments later two security officers took position just past the sickbay entrance, firing phasers again in the direction of Celes. Suddenly before her eyes she saw the two security officers burst into flame, their screams of pain deafening, before they collapsed to the ground, incinerated.
All that could be heard was the heavy footfalls of Celes as she walked away, laughing malevolently.
Sam's heart nearly stopped beating within her chest as she watched the two officers fall before her. There was nothing she could do for them and her team could look after the injured. Someone had to stop Celes' or at least slow her down.
She followed the deranged woman down the corridor.
"Deanna! Stop, please..." There was almost a pleading tone as she raised her phaser. It was set to stun but her aim was true and unwavering.
"Don't let anyone else die, what do you want?"
Celes stopped and turned around, malice written all over her. "Foolish creature, you cannot harm me. We know your strengths, your weaknesses, your secrets. You are primitive, and we shall destroy you."
"Who are you?" Sam's eyebrows drew together in question, her weapon still trained on Celes'. " What have you done with Deanna?"
"Please, I don't want to hurt you but I wont let you hurt anyone else" Sam's determination gave her voice the strength it needed " her thumb was poised on the trigger of her phaser. " Don't make me do this" she whispered, watching Deanna's eyes flash red. Taking a breath she pressed the fire button.
She smiled evilly as the phaser blasts hit her, as if they were nonexistent. She raised her hand, and the phaser was flung from Samantha's grasp and Samantha was levitating. "So the ant wishes to bite? Then it shall be squashed." She smiled vilely, then suddenly Samantha dropped to the ground and Celes grabbed her head as she fell against the wall. She yelled, "Run Samantha! I can't hold her for very long!" It was Celes, somehow.
Sam grasped as her phaser flew out of her hand then her feet left the floor, as though some unseen hand was lifting her body via her throat. She gasped for breath, struggling to fill her lungs with precious air against an invisible force. Then it was over.
She coughed violently as she landed in a heap on the floor, watching Deanna fight with whatever was inhabiting her mind.
"Fight it Deanna, keep fighting it" Sam encouraged, reaching for her phaser. She thumbed the setting to kill before holstering it. Energy weapons weren't going to win the battle here. A hypo was retrieved from her pocket and dialled in with enough sedative to make an elephant sleep for a week. The internal struggle Celes' was experiencing was the perfect opportunity to sedate her and buy them time to sort this mess out.
" Keep fighting Deanna" she whispered as she stepped forward, hypo concealed until the last second.
As Samantha injected Celes a hand took hold of Samantha by the wrist and squeezed, the sound of the bones being crushed. Samantha lay before Celes grasping her arm in pain as Celes looked at her. "Valiant effort, but you are no match for me or my people."
Samantha once again felt an unknown force as she once more became afloat in the air, and then a new more painful sensation, as if her blood was boiling, causing all sorts of physical problems and manifestations. And then suddenly, without warning, she dropped to the ground, the sound of footsteps coming closer to her.
Sam screamed in terror as her body was abused by an invisible force, until she could no longer draw breath and fell limp, her life flashing before her eyes the instant before death.
"Foul creature, leave these beings alone. Withdraw or be destroyed" said a stern voice from behind her.
Red-eyed Celes looked angry and yet fearful. "You will not stop us. We shall have this vessel and its resources!" She charged forward and was grabbed by a pair of Vulcans and slammed to the ground.
They placed hands upon her and a bright glowing white light began to fill the area until finally it dissipated. The Vulcans turned to Samantha, their eyes glowing white, "We have freed this woman. We shall heal you now." They laid hands upon Samantha and once more the bright blinding light came and went. "The blue male shall return soon with the needed items to protect you."
Breath returned in a way Sam didn't expect, her vision filled with a white light before settling on a pair of Vulcans. She was sure she was dead, but then again this was weird as an afterlife.
"Am I...?" Her voice trailed off as she saw Celes' also on the floor "Is she...?" Words were hard to come by. Her brain was foggy as it tried to catch up.
"You are both quite alive. I suspect you will need to have her rest for a period of time. The neuro trauma will linger for hours at least. But all physical injuries to you both are now healed. We apologize for what has happened here. We have explained everything to the blue humanoid. He will return soon to explain everything. Be well" said one of the Vulcans before picking up both Samantha and Celes and returning them to sickbay.
