Mission: Time Bandits
Location: T’ghann-Travis Quarters

“Computer lights” Shon sat bolt upright in bed, it was dark and the soft hum of the ships engines that had lulled her to sleep had changed. She shook her husband awake, “Seth, wake up, somethings wrong.”

Seth's eyes snapped open, "What? What is it Shon?" He asked even as he began moving to get out of bed.

“Please…” she began to struggle out of bed. “We have to get dressed. Something has happened, Damn it,” she began to pull her uniform on and attach the motor assist bands. “Seth help me…..I can feel..a turbulence in the minds of others and fear!” Shon’s eyes opened wide. “Seth, where are our weapons?”

Seth moved quickly to Shon. "Calm down, I'm here to help you." He said as he the motor assist bands on her.
There, now you can move, Now, what is this all about Shon?" He asked as he got dressed and then moved to the nightside table and pressed a hidden button that revealed a false bottom of the table. He took out two phasers, handing one to Shon as he held the other.

She took the phaser from her husband but put it behind her back as their daughter appeared.

Shasta opened her door rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. “Dad, Mom what’s going on?” She said drowsily.

“Nothing sweetie go back to bed it’s just a ships exercise. We didn’t mean to wake you. Go back to bed, close your door and don’t come out unless your father and I tell you. Understand?” Thankfully the little girl turned and shut her door.

“Seth” she whispered. “ Have you got your communicator? Try and raise someone.”

Seth nodded at tried to connect to Commander Grayson and got nothing just silence. He looked at Shon. "Nothing Shon, just silence." he told her.

She took a half kneeling position behind the couch despite the moan of her motor assist bands, dialed up the stun setting on her phaser aiming it at the door.

High Priestess and Healer Lodzhal was amused by her ‘escort’, if they knew that she could easily snap their necks before they were even aware she had moved they would not be so careless in their duties. Enough Ket-cheleb, you have already done enough damage. I am a High Priestess and A Master of the teachings of Nirak. I have mastered the ‘Inner Chorus’ and you MUST OBEY she said internally, showing nothing to the outside world of the small argument she had. She stopped suddenly and looked at the young security escort “Take me to the quarters of the one you call Shoniara T’ghann-Travis now. Your ship has been boarded by kanu t' eifa vi march ne'rak wuh raptor's rala, Rihansu. You know them as Romulans.”

As Lodzhal and her 'escort' rounded a corner they saw two Romulans heading their direction. In the blink of an eye before anyone could react Lodzhal flicked her right wrist and the Ahn-woon she had so carefully wrapped around her hand and forearm flew from her striking one Romulan in the throat, he instantly fell. The other fired of a shot from her disrupter striking one of the security officers in the chest. Lodzhal started to spin and flicked the Ahn-woon back, she sent it forward in another flick striking the other Romulan in the hand causing it to drop the disrupter; and shattering the wrist and hand.

Time seemed to slow inside their quarters as Shon and Seth waited. Unwilling to wait any longer Shon began to move towards the door.

Seth whispered savagely to her, "Shon get back here!"

She looked behind her. “I have to know what is going on, try to get to sickbay.” She turned. “Darling, it is my duty to get to sickbay. There may be wounded. I also have to make sure Sam is all right. If you want you can stay here with Shasta? Make sure no one gets in.”

"He shook his head, " What I want doesn't matter. You can't go to Sickbay by yourself. Your motor assist bands will give you away and I'm not leaving Shasta by herself," Seth stated firmly.

“Well help me deactivate the damn things then Seth!” Shon exclaimed.

“What’s going on?” A little voice enquired as once again Shasta appeared from her bedroom.

"Shasta, come on out honey." Seth told their daughter. He then looked at Shon. "Deactivate them? Then what Shon? You'd never make it Sickbay even with me helping you, you would be worn out. You need the bands."

“I know something is going on that you are not telling me about. I know you both have to go somewhere. I can hide here look, follow me.”

Shon looked at Seth and the two followed Shasta into her room. Their daughter walked over to a cupboard where she kept her toys and books. She opened it and after removing some of the cupboards contents appeared to press a panel which came away. Behind it was a blind end Jeffries tube. She turned and looked proudly at her parents. “I found this out a few weeks ago, one of my friends at school has one too in his room. Apparently they are all over the ship. When it was being built they needed access for equipment and created these. They were closed off when the ship was commissioned.”

Shon looked on in amazement as Shasta continued.

“Sometimes I hide in here when I want to be alone to think see?”

Shon peered inside and saw a lamp, some water in a flask and a couple of books with a cushion.”

Shon laughed, “well I never, looks really comfortable doesn’t it Seth?”

"It sure does!" Seth agreed. "We have smart girl. I need to see if our room has one. You know, when I want to get away to think." He looked back at Shasta, "That's good Shasta, you should also have some food in there with you, like protein bars, stuff that lasts a long time."

Shon looked at Seth, “I think we should let Shasta take some snacks inside with her and have some alone time, but you must promise you dad and me that you will not come out for anything unless it is me or you dad or someone else like Callie, Jon or the Captain okay?” Shon looked at Seth, “is there air flow in there?”

"Shasta, go get some food to have in there with you and do has your mom says if you go and hide in there. Do you have adequate air flow in there?" He asked repeating Shon's question.

Shasta nodded, “oh yes, there is always a cool air flow so I have to take blanket inside, once I slept in there all night.”

Shon shuddered at the thought. “Right go get some snacks?”

Shasta skipped out, “should we give her a weapon?” She whispered to Seth.

"A weapon? You mean a phaser? I don't know Shon. Wait, I have something that will work." As he disappeared into their bedroom. A few minutes later he returned with a silver can and a baseball bat. "Shasta, when you get your food, I have something for you."

Whilst they waited Shon put Shasta’s blanket and pillows inside and a communicator which, she hoped might begin to work.

Shasta skipped back in although she was hiding her yawn. “I’ve been to the bathroom and told Puss where I am. As if on cue the Sehlat lumbered into the room and jumped up onto her bed.

Shon kissed her “now before you climb in you dad has something for you.”

Seth handed her the silver can. "Pepper spray. Spray this in someone's eyes and run take Puss with you." He then handed her the bat. "Use this if you need to break their kneecaps." He looked at her long and hard and then pulled out his cricket phaser. He handed it to Shasta. "Use this has a last resort. Your goal is to get away."

Shasta looked serious. “Yes dad, they showed us how to use these phasers and how dangerous they are. I could never kill anything though just stun them.” Shasta held out her arms to him, “I love you dad.” She said.

"I, we love you as well." Seth answered, hugging Shasta tightly. "Stunning them is fine sweetie. The main thing is that you stay safe and get away."

Shasta looked at Shon. “I don’t suppose I can persuade you to stay here mom?” She asked a tear in her eye.

Shon sat down on her bed, legs beginning to complain although she did not tell Seth. She pulled Shasta too her and hugged her tight. “My darling little one I would love nothing more than to stay with you here, but I am an officer on this ship and a doctor. I have to go and see what is happening.” She stood up and patted Shasta on her butt. “Now go inside and dad will put some books and games in front of the hatch. I put a communicator in there as well but the comms are not working. If you hear four clicks you will know it is me but don’t answer just give me one click back.”

Shasta nodded and climbed in with all her things. “Be careful both of you, I only just found you again.” She backed into the tube and put her light on. Just then Puss jumped up after her and looked at Shon. He walked behind Shasta and lay down.” Shon blew them a kiss and gently replaced the cover until it blended seamlessly into the wall. Seth will you replace everything whilst I get a pain and stimulant hypo.”

"Sure will." Seth answered "Shasta, put her ear against the Jeffries tube and you can hear voices, it will help you know what is going on." Seth told her as he replaced everything like it was,

Shon came back in looking decidedly better having taken both hypos. “This should last an hour or so.” She said. “ Let’s go.” Then she turned and kissed him.

Moving towards the doors she pressed the unlock open. Nothing happened, “we’ll have to push them open she said.

He kissed her back as he moved to the door, Placing his hands on the door, he huffed and pulled back on the door, It groaned and moved a few inches. "Shon have you got a bar? Something we can use for leverage?"

She looked around and picked up her B’atleth, “pretty indestructible and I’ll take it with us.” She threw a look back to Shasta’s closed door. “Are we doing the right thing Seth?” She asked.

Seth answered honestly, "I think so Shon. I know we can't stay locked in our quarters. We need to find out what is going on and help the others."

The Klingon weapon managed to wedge into the door and with its help the pair managed to get out into the corridor. She held her B’atleth to her side and held her phaser in the other. Already her back and legs were beginning to hurt. The lights were low as expected for the gamma shift but, even saying that the corridor felt too quiet. The sounds of her motor assist bands sounded, to her like a warp engine in the quiet. They made their way to the corner and Shon pressed to the wall looked slowly round. “Romulans!! coming this way” she whispered to Seth, holding up two fingers indicating two of them.

Seth nodded at Shon's hissed whisper. "When they get close, We stun them into next week. Then we get to Sickbay." He looked over to her, "Are you alright Shon? No sugar coating it please, tell me straight."

“I am in great pain and have to sit down soon but I’m okay for the moment my love.” she said. She put her finger to her lips as the Romulan interlopers came nearer.

The one security guard left standing with Lodzhal stood still for just a second before instinct and training took over. He fired off his phaser, hitting the wounded Romulan in the chest and dropping him into unconsciousness. He then tapped his combadge, but nothing happened, just dead silence. “What the hell is going on?” he asked. “I told you in perfect Federation Standard young man, the ship would appear to have been boarded and taken over by Romulans.” Replied Lodzhal, “Now help me move these bodies out of the way.” “What about Petty Officer Vasquez?” inquired the young security officer. “I am afraid he is dead, along with this Rihansu. This one will be out for a while.” Replied Lodzhal as she began tying the Romulan up with her Ahn-woon. After a few minutes they managed to move the bodies to a Jefferies tube. “Now then, please take me to the quarters of Shoniara T’ghann-Travis, sickbay has been lost to us, and before you ask my great grandniece was in sickbay when it was overran, she sent me a mental image.” With that the young security guard lead the strange Vulcan, quietly, in the direction of Lieutenant Commander Shoniara T’ghann-Travis quarters What the hell, she can deal with this crazy Vulcan, and perhaps give me some guidance as well. he thought. As they rounded another corner they saw two Romulans with there backs to them, the security guard fired off two quick shots with his phaser, stunning both Romulans, and breaking the silence of the corridor.

Shon and Seth heard the sound of phaser fire and the fall of two bodies.

“Now what do we do?” whispered the young security officer. Lodzhal just ignored the young man walked over to where the Romulans lay, knelt and flicked her hand at both of them. She hit them in a precise manner in vital nerve areas. She stood back up “No time to move them, but they will not move or become conscious for some time. Now take me to Shoniara T’ghann-Travis quickly and quietly” replied Lodzhal.

Shon turned as quickly as she could, phaser arm outstretched. “IDENTIFY YOURSELF” she called and then her spine gave way and she crumpled to the ground. She cried out in pain but pulled herself up onto her knees, then repeated her challenge “IDENTIFY YOURSELF NOW!”

Seth was at her side in an instant. "Shon!" he exclaimed as he reached her. One arm going to help steady her the other holding his phaser out. "You'll never make it to Sickbay. Let me get you back to our quarters."

Shon nodded and let Seth help her up. She took the hypo from her thigh pocket and gave herself another dose of pain relief and stimulant which helped greatly. Together they backed up the corridor managing to get back into their quarters. Together they pushed the door closed. Shon looked panicked as now she was worried about someone….whoever they were entering and finding their daughter. “Can we barricade the door Seth?”

Crewman Second Class Gene Fletcher was nervous, what had started out as a simple assignment to escort the strange Vulcan woman to her quarters, which she had promptly countermanded by demanding to go to sickbay, had turned into a complete nightmare. He was actually engaging Romulans on the ship, how was that possible. He heard a voice cry out “IDENTIFY YOURSELF” along with some weird clicking noises. He responded in a squeaky whisper “Commander Travis, is that you, I am Crewman Second Class Fletcher with the Vulcan visitor.” He was not sure if the individual had heard him. He heard something hit the deck and a cry of pain followed by another “IDENTIFY YOURSELF NOW!”, he was not sure what to do and turned to look at the Vulcan for guidance. She regarded him “They have retreated back to their quarters. I suggest we move quickly and alert them to who we are.” Replied Lodzhal in a calm and collected voice. How the hell is she staying so damn calm? thought Crewman Fletcher.

"You go check on Shasta, I'll barricade the door." He replied. "Shon, look at the Jeffries tube, is it big enough for you to get in and move with your bands?"

Crewman Second Class Fletcher and Lodzhal arrived outside the doors to & Lieutenant Commander Shoniara T’ghann-Travis quarters. Crewman Fletcher tried the door chime and nothing happened. "Just great" he mumbled under his breath. As he was thinking of what to do next Lodzhal stepped up to the door and knocked on it, "Shoniara T’ghann-Travis, my name is Lodzhal of Vulcan I have a young security officer," here she paused and looked at the young man. "Crewman Second Class Fletcher" Fletcher spoke up. "with me, will you please open the door?" Lodzhal requested.

Shon had been heading slowly towards Shasta’s room when she heard the voices. She turned and looked at Seth. “We should open the door. Let’s push”

Seth sighed and nodded, one thing was for sure his arms were getting quite a workout but the finally yielded and slid back far enough for them to see who was on the other side.

The door slowly opened. “Crewman Fletcher?” Shon asked. “Can you tell me why there are Romulans on board the ship, and”….she pointed towards the Vulcan “who in Surak’s name is this?”

Ensign T'Plana-hath. On our way there we ran into two Romulans, before I or Vasquez could react Mrs. Lodzhal took one Romulan down and was striking the other as he fired his disruptor, hitting Vasquez. Vasquez is dead Sir. Then Mrs. Lodzhal demanded to come to your quarters, stating that sickbay had fallen. Comms are out and we ran into more Romulans, which I stunned. Now we are here." he stated. The whole time the ageless Vulcan female stood quietly watching the exchange. It was difficult to tell her age other than she was old by her long snow-white hair.
