Resistance is not Futile

Mission: The Borg Encounter
Location: USS Washington

The entire away team materialized in sickbay. A medic quickly came up behind Grayson and sedated him. The panic on his face was apparent as he tried to hold him up waiting for assistance.

"We need to get him to the surgical bay for the boss" said a nurse who moved to assist.

Shran looked around. He was happy to be back aboard his ship, though being in sickbay was not where he wanted to be at this particular moment. He spotted Estella in her Borg make up, she was looking concerned. "You are not the person I expected to lead a rescue, but damn glad you did counselor. A very interesting tactic. I think you can handle things here until Samantha arrives."

The Counselor's expression was empty, much like she felt. She gave a weak nod and forced a smile as she regarded Shran. "Good to have you back, Captain."

Shran exited sickbay and made his way to the bridge.

As Jon was sedated, his eyes found Essie and a augmented arm and hand reached for her whether to attack or for comfort was unclear as he collapsed into unconsciousness.

Even as Shran left, Estella stood unmoved. While she might not have said it, the Counselor was disgusted by her actions on board the Borg vessel. What if Jon had refused? What if he had put up a fight? Her stomach soured at the thought. Turning to glance over at Jon, her eyes widened when he stretched out an augmented hand toward her which she took gently into her own as it went limp. She blinked back tears and spoke in a soft whisper. "I'm sorry, Jon."

*Bridge*

Sam had remained on the bridge for the time being, confident her team would be able to handle things until the Captain relieved her. From Dr Perrim's initial reports the Captain hadn't been assimilated yet and was fit to return to duty. Commander Grayson would be a little more challenging when it came to his return to duty. Many hours of surgery and psychological therapy would be needed until he fully recovered from his experience.

She looked up as the turbolift doors opened, revealing the Captain himself. Standing she vacated the chair.

" Repairs are underway, Engineering reports we should have warp power back within the hour, all over systems should be back to full functionality within 12 hours" Howard briefed the Captain.

"Leave the ship to fight the Borg for five minutes and you all go crazy and leave it in shambles." he said, a smile on his face. He became more serious, "Good luck to you doctor. I don't envy what you have to do next."

"Sachzny, disable that Borg vessel."

Sam couldn't help but smirk at the Captain's words - they were in good humor and she had taken them that way - in a perfect world she would have been standing by in sickbay ready to treat the wounded, not commanding the ship with the Captain and XO kidnapped.

" Neither do I Sir, but we'll do our best" Sam acknowledged and headed towards the turbolift for her next challenge. It would be hours of painstaking surgery before she removed all of Jon's cybernetic implants and restored his human form. Best to grab a coffee first...or a caffeine IV.

"Status of the Borg vessel" said Shran.

Glancing at her readouts, Sachzny knew the Borg vessel had the advantage. She fired a volley of phasers and gauged the results. "Borg vessel still operational 100 per cent, permission to attempt something Captain?" She had an idea, but it might be a little dangerous.

"By all means Sachzny, destroy them however you see fit."

Sachzny now piggy backed two quantum torpedoes, and then focused the phasers. "5, 4, 3, 2, 1", As the phasers fired she also launched the torpedo's. The Borg vessel exploded in a shower of light, "Vessel destroyed". Was all she said, once again.

"Excellent" replied Shran. "L'Rissa, set course back to Federation space, Starbase 217 should suffice, best speed."
