Emergency Debrief

Posted on Wed Feb 28th, 2024 @ 5:36pm by Captain Shran dh'Klar & Lieutenant Commander Deanna Celes & Lieutenant JG Eislyn Jortho & Commander Jonathan Grayson & Commander Samantha Howard & Lieutenant Commander Callie Raven-Grayson & Lieutenant Inara Senn & Lieutenant JG Kate Kono & Lieutenant Wyatt Steele & Lieutenant JG Vienna Steele

Mission: Lost & Found
Location: Conference Room

Shran entered the conference room with Sam and Callie. They sat and awaited the two away teams so they could start this debrief. He fully expected to hear things that would be strange at the very least.

Callie walked around to her seat sitting down ready for whatever was about to be revealed.

There was a zipping motion followed by a rattle as a streak of a Starfleet uniform shot out from the entrance from the ready room and slammed into one of the conference room chairs like a torpedo impact. The chair spun a few rounds as the spinning slowed enough to reveal the form of Kate as she began talking.
"This was the best away mission in the history of ever. Ghosts are much easier to deal with than flying arrows." Kate nodded as the chair slowly halted its spin. "Got here first!" Kate flashed two fingers in the air and grinned.

Jon came in next. He was much more controlled than Kate's mad dash. "Oh, the rashness of youth. Yes. you got there first but i have the better seat." As he sat down at the head of the table to the right of where Shran would sit.

Callie couldn’t help but smile as Jon sat down, to say she’d missed him was an understatement.

Inara came in next. "Oh, let the young be young, Commander. It's the only way they'll ever learn how pointless life is. Every girl her age has to run into a pillar while texting or doing something on a PADD. She probably had six shots of espresso for breakfast this morning."

Deanna followed quietly, reviewing data that had been collected and taking note of Inara's still dour mood. "I think you'll find what we have for you to be of great interest" she said to Shran as she took her seat next to Sam.

Tarja came in looking rather excited. It was rare for her to be amongst the senior staff for a meeting, let alone with interesting data to provide. She quickly made her way over to Sam, "Doctor, I have something to show you, to get your opinion. We got some data from the ship computers, and I did a comparison while we were investigating. It appears they had detected some strange biogenic radiation before the crew disappeared. While we didn't detect that radiation in our investigation, I took note that the readings we got from our alleged ghosts had a neurogenic reading that was quite similar, as if they are originating from the same location. Am I crazy, or do you see the same thing?"

Walking in Vienna nodded politely to all present as she took a seat at the table. To say events had been interesting would be a massive understatement.

Sam looked on, taking in the excited faces and what was being said. There had certainly been some changes in behavior, whether that was due to the away mission itself. or what had occurred during it would remain to be seen. She opened her tricorder and took a few general readings to compare against the baselines she already had on file.

"You know I recall something in a journal of extradimensional sciences about a species that took several crew members for study from the Enterprise D before the war started. Ever since there's been studies performed on the idea of alternate planes of existence. Even Alternate universes. What we detected could be a means of access into our universe that possibly does not conform to our space-time continuum." Inara noted. "The research done on it has been limited so far, perhaps I can take what we've learned to the next level."

"It is worth investigating captain" Deanna admitted. "Certainly, one avenue of exploration given the evidence that has been collected. I'd like to take a closer look at this information they gathered from the other derelict. I think a comparison could shine additional light. One thing for certain, the triangulation that we did from the Daystrom indicates that we need to look inside this asteroid field."

Shran listened intently. "Can anyone tell me about these supposed ghosts?"

Inara shook her head 'Ghosts? Seriously? Next, he'll want me to believe in leprechauns or tooth fairies. Such superstition.' She thought to herself. "All due respect, I'm not sure what they are."

“I don’t think they’re ghosts, in the actual sense as we understand it.” Vienna gave Shran a smile. “They’re more...echoes of a sort.”

"Hmm.." Inara thought a moment. "Could it be possible." She pondored something. "A Biogenic lifeform of genetic memory, and I am wondering if they are a type of probe with the ability to transfer samples of what they find back to their reality. I was just trying to get my own mind focused on it, when I encountered it, but that was until Commander Celes ordered me to shoot it." She noted.

"Echoes of what?" Shran questioned.

"I think they are more than just mere echoes captain" Eislyn offered. They show sentience, the ability to communicate, albeit somewhat intermittent. Thet experiences I had and the others I was informed about from on the Hudson makes me believe they are in fact members of the crew of the respective ship. Something else I would note that has come to my attention, all of these ghosts or apparitions or whatever term we wish to use, they are all telepathic species."

Deanna glanced at Inara and gave a dismissive huff before chiming in herself. "At the time, Shon had been taken and the entity that appeared showed hostile intent. SOP is to fire phasers on stun as a protective manner last I checked" she said with a smile.

"I have no issue with you following protocol Deanna" Shran replied. "What are your thoughts with this new information?"

"Given the new information gathered by the Hudson away team, as well as the theories presented, I think we have at least enough evidence to hypothesize that we are dealing with two distinctly different entities, one benign, the other potentially hostile. I think Eislyn is correct, at least regarding the benign entities, they are what they appear to be, some sort of projection of the crew. I think we should enter the asteroid field cautiously."

Shran nodded. He looked over at Jon, "You've been quiet. What are you thinking?"

Jon swiveled in his seat to look at Shran. "Listening to Deanna and Inara and their thoughts and perspectives on what happened to Shon. I think the truth may be between their two views. As we know appearances can be deceiving and I think that may be the case here. Yes, Shon was taken but it may have been out of curiosity at least I hope so."

Shran nodded in agreement. "I think there is truth in that. We'll proceed cautiously. But I don't think Shon is dead. Something tells me we'll find her. The question remains in what condition."

"Regarding the question of 'ghosts', there are numerous instances of non-coporial lifeforms inhabiting or visiting our galaxy. As for Shon, I volunteer to go on the away mission to find her, she'll need medical attention" Sam looked around the briefing table.

Callie looked towards Shran. “If we are dealing with a telepathic species then you’ll need either myself or Deanna along to go along with the away team Sir.”

"I think we are getting ahead of ourselves forming an away team when we don't have a destination" Shran replied with a grin. "But nice to know we have some volunteers. Jon and Deanna of course would lead any rescue mission. First things first, we need to go into that asteroid field and locate whatever hidden facility may be there. We also have an investigation with the data collected to get looked into. Anything else?"

Jon shook his head, "Not from me sir."

Shran stood from the table, "Very well. Let's get to work and take a look into this asteroid field. Jon, check with the teams and have them continue working on any repairs to the Daystrom and the Hudson. Send over security details to bolster security for them while they work. We'll return for the ships after we check out this asteroid field."

With that the meeting adjourned and everyone exit the conference room.
